The formal presentation is an important component in the Advanced Placement curriculum. The purpose of this presentation is to deliver to a select audience the research and conclusions that fill the content of the research paper written in the second semester of AP class. The skills used to give a formal presentation are of life-long importance and consequence.

Due to the number of people presenting, please keep your presentation to a maximum of 20 minutes.


The following components of the formal presentation will be assessed for a numeric grade:
  • Thesis statement (this should be in the introduction)
  • Accurately defined concept
  • Explanation of the importance of the concept
  • Organization and structure
    • Introduction
    • Conclusion
  • Presentation skills, not limited to:
    • Appearance, including choice of clothing and attire
    • Enthusiasm
    • Inflection
    • Posture
    • Voice
  • Use of media, such as:
    • Prezi
    • Slide Show
    • Website
    • Power Point
    • Handouts (not "worksheets")
