“ I like Ike” Campaign for Dwight D Eisenhower 1952

“I like Ike” was the catchphrase for Dwight D Eisenhower's campaign, It most likely helped him with his election. He picked up the name from the US military academy, in West point, NY he was enrolled in. This catchphrase was short, sweet and cheaper than others so it stuck, it even rhymed so it stuck with people easier.
His opponent during the campaign was Illinois democrat Adlai E. Stevenson. His slogan was far less catchy “ "I'm madly for Adlai." It was no surprise Eisenhower won a sweeping victory.
