Sandra Day O'Connor 1981
Sandra Day O'Connor was born March 26, 1930, in El Paso, Texas, and was raised on a cattle ranch
in southeastern Arizona.
Sandra Day O'Connor served as an associate justice in the supreme court, appointed in 1981 by president Ronald Reagan because of a campaign promise.
She is famously known for being the first woman to be appointed into the supreme court.
Political people criticized her as a waste of position, but liberals were very happy to see her come in as the first woman in the supreme court. However they were disappointed she did not fight so much for feminist issues until later. Sandra eventually for unanimous approval from everyone and surely paved the way for more women to come into the supreme court later.
